How Shanna lost 4.6kg weight and dropped 5.7% body fat in 60-day BASELINE Challenge

Shanna started her fitness journey in 2018. She started exercising to feel good about herself and become comfortable in her own skin. In 2020, she joined the BASELINE Challenge with a different goal – she wanted to challenge herself and see how much she could progress in two months.

Shanna started her fitness journey in 2018. She started exercising to feel good about herself and become comfortable in her own skin. In 2020, she joined the BASELINE Challenge with a different goal – she wanted to challenge herself and see how much she could progress in two months.

We encourage performance goals at BASE – such as improving strength or speed – so we were happy to welcome Shanna to the Challenge with a renewed focus.

Shanna said:

“For the longest time, I’ve struggled with body image and weight issues. I considered myself as a DUFF (designated ugly fat friend) in almost all of my social circles and admittedly, I just wanted to get skinny.”

To get out of this mindset, she decided to start investing time into fitness and committed “to knowing, accepting, and loving myself.”

When the Challenge kicked off, Shanna committed to 30 group classes in 60 days. This is a big undertaking, but the BASELINE technology kept her motivated to train.

Shanna added:

“You start off with a bodyscan and ‘Kickstart’ workout to see where you are at, then you do the same at the end of the challenge. You’ll also be able to track your workout progress through their BASELINE technology, which is a YES to me because it just motivates me to challenge myself to become better.”

In addition to the BASELINE technology, she also credits the coaching team at BASE for motivating her, saying:

“They are friendly, approachable and super motivating in their own style. I really appreciate their approach of ‘go challenge yourself, but also listen to your body and take your break’.”

All of Shanna’s hard work and dedication was shown in her progress. Not only did she lose 5 kilograms and 5.7 percent body fat, she has come even further in her journey to learn about and love herself.

She added:

“I don’t think this is the end of the journey and I will always be a work in progress. But, I know for a fact that I have come so far in my self love and self improvement journey. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me.”
