HALF HYROX RACE SIMULATION

New to HYROX, short on time or want to experience the race feel in a normal session length?

Presenting our new Half HYROX Race Simulation.

It offers the same official equipment, the same eight stations but with half the distance and reps.

The session is designed to be completed within an hour session, with average times around 35-50 minutes.

All running is completed on Assault Air Runners, with Concept2 Rowers and SkiErgs used for the cardio stations. We use official CENTR HYROX equipment, including CENTR wall ball targets, an official race sled, and the same sandbags used in competition.

Each Half Simulation has a 60-minute time cap. Running distances are typically 500m but can be adjusted to 300 or 400m if needed.

THE EIGHT HYROX STATIONS — HALF DISTANCE

These are the eight exercise stations you will complete in the Half HYROX Race Simulation at BASE, each at half the standard race distance.

Running
You will run at the start and between every station. Typically 500m, with options for 300m or 400m for beginners.

500m SkiErg
The race opens with 500 meters on the SkiErg. This station hits the arms, shoulders, upper back, and core, while also driving the heart rate up fast.

25m Sled Push
The 25-meter sled push is all about lower-body power. Expect heavy emphasis on the quads, glutes, and calves. Good footwear matters here, as grip makes a real difference.

25m Sled Pull
Next comes the sled pull, performed facing backward. This movement shifts the load to the upper back, arms, glutes, hamstrings, and core.

40m Burpee Broad Jumps
Each rep combines a burpee followed by a long forward jump. You’ll repeat this sequence until you cover 40 meters, testing explosive power and conditioning.

500m Row
At the halfway point, athletes complete 500 meters on the rower. This is a full-body endurance challenge, heavily involving the legs, back, and arms.

100m Farmer’s Carry
The farmer’s carry covers 100 meters with heavy weights in each hand. Grip strength, core stability, shoulders, and upper back all come into play.

50m Sandbag Lunges
Complete 50 meters of walking lunges with a sandbag loaded across your shoulders. This station heavily targets the quads, glutes, and core.

50 Wall Balls
The simulation finishes with 50 wall balls. Each rep must hit the center of the target — set at 2.7m (9ft) for women and 3.05m (10ft) for men — with hips dropping below knee level. Men throw a 6kg ball, women use a 4kg ball.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the difference between the full and Half HYROX Race Simulation?

The Half Simulation covers all eight stations at half the standard race distance, with a 60-minute time cap instead of 90. It’s built for athletes who are new to HYROX, short on time, or working back up to full race distance.

Is a Half HYROX simulation a good starting point for beginners?

Yes. It’s designed as an easier entry point. You get the full race format and station order without the endurance demands of full distance, so you can learn pacing and technique before scaling up.

How long does a Half HYROX Race Simulation take?

We allow up to 60 minutes. Most athletes finish well within that, depending on fitness level, running distance selected, and whether you’re doing Solo, Doubles, or Relay.

Can I move up to the full simulation later?

Yes. Many athletes start with the Half Simulation to learn the format, then book the full 1,000m version as they build endurance closer to race day.

Is the equipment the same as a real HYROX race?

Yes. We use official CENTR HYROX equipment, including race-standard sleds, wall ball targets, and competition sandbags, along with Concept2 SkiErgs and RowErgs.

Can non-members book a Half HYROX Race Simulation?

Yes. It’s open to non-members. BASE members and 12 Weeks To HYROX Program holders receive a discounted rate.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes, subject to our standard cancelation policy. Sessions can be rescheduled more than 24 hours before the session. Cancelations less than 24 hours before will be charged as normal.

How far in advance do I need to book a HYROX simulation?

Simulations must be booked in advance. Availability is limited due to time blocks and equipment use, so earlier is better — especially if you’re training close to a race date.

Is HYROX training available at BASE?

Yes. BASE offers structured HYROX training alongside race simulations, including classes and personal training programs to prepare for competition.

You can find out more about our HYROX training here.

What should I bring to a HYROX race simulation?

Bring what you’d bring on race day: training shoes with good grip, comfortable workout gear, a towel, and hydration. Gloves, belts, or accessories are optional — most athletes keep it simple.

Do you offer personal training for HYROX?

Yes. We’ve helped many people either get through their first race, or sharpen and improve their best time. We have a range of male and female coaches who have competed in HYROX races across Asia and the globe.
